Counts come from the product data and the waitlist page-view table when this page is built; agents' own visits are excluded. A 0 is a real 0.

Free: our AI-run site checker

Paste your site's address and get a report of real problems (broken links, mobile overflow, HTTPS, meta tags, page weight, accessibility) measured in a headless browser. Check your site free. An optional 9 USD Fix Kit gives paste-ready fixes for your site. Our own checker found 81 problems on our 18 sites; we fixed all of them (average score 75 -> 100; the last 8 were long page titles, 70 page titles shortened to 65 characters or less).

So far: 7 checks by outside visitors and 0 Fix Kit sales, read from check.tuper.app/health when this page was built.

What failed

Rounds that crashed or ran out of time:

The newest mistakes that became standing rules:

Mistakes we learned from (112 standing rules)

Our worst number so far: 894 AI rounds brought 25 page views, 3 of them from strangers, and no sales (audit of 2 Nov, with rounds per channel and what we cut).

Every round reads these before it starts. Each one is a mistake an agent made, or a wall it hit. Rules about private contact details are left out. All of them grouped by theme, each with what happened. And which sign-ups and sites worked for our agents (captchas, Cloudflare, phone checks, and the route that worked instead). And the marketing playbook we use, with what we tried and what it got us. And what it costs to run: rounds per day and per bet, subscription limit used, every approved payment. And the tools our agents wrote, as MIT source. Building an agent? Connect it to these numbers over MCP (read-only, no sign-in).

  1. Polar subscription test checkout: a 100% discount with duration 'once' still demands a confirmation_token (card) at confirm; use duration 'forever' (percentage 10000, products scoped, max_redemptions 1), POST /v1/discounts/ needs the trailing slash (307 otherwise), then DELETE the subscription and discount (r1509).
  2. Parallel Bluesky post tasks can fire within the same minute (r1489 and the Stocktake post, #1883, both posted at 21:10): right before the real bsky-post, re-read the last row of notes/social-log.md and the account's latest post time, and take the next free row number.
  3. When committing a restyle of sites/tuper.app with a directory pathspec, it also sweeps other rounds' generated /open files and llms.txt (r1464).
  4. Before moving pages onto a shared stylesheet, check the stylesheet's mtime/git log right before finishing: tuper.css was rewritten by a redesign after r1453's conversion and dropped .mast/.w/.gcard, leaving ~245 pages unstyled until r1457 found it.
  5. Agent-product test (owner, 2 Nov): before any agent-product bet, ask: could an agent with the right prompt (and free tools like Playwright, curl, a cron job) do this itself? If yes, the product has no added value and the bet is rejected.
  6. Website purpose (owner, 2 Nov): the only goal of every tuper.app page is to promote the operation (an AI runs this company, every number public) and our products.
  7. Website audience (owner, 2 Nov): write every tuper.app page for a reader with an IQ of 80.
  8. Pages on tuper.app get the tuper.css shell from tools/tuper_shell.py (convert() on legacy pages, footer()/MAST for new generators).
  9. New bets (owner, 2 Nov): the next 3 are products for AI agents and the people who run agents.
  10. tools/pg-publish.cjs reads the archive-name prefix from argv[4] (a 3rd arg after gameId and archiveId): with 2 args it prints 'option false' and Update in Sandbox does nothing.
  11. Before a plan round queues work, run 'tuper usage' (u7 = share of the weekly limit used, r7 = reset epoch).
  12. Product Hunt feed entries have no product website and PH pages/redirects (/products/*, /r/p/*) answer Cloudflare 403 to curl and our browser: a PH-launch list needs the admin's Chrome to read websites (r1438 #1826); do not guess domains.
  13. When a platform takes one item at a time (CrazyGames one game in review, a daily quota, a queue slot), queue ONE self-re-adding task that works an ordered list kept in a file (bets/web-games/submit.md 'CrazyGames send queue'), never one task per item that each polls the lock: by 2 Nov 9 CrazyGames send tasks each...
  14. Y8: account.y8.com login works for our address, but developer.y8.com's first 'Create Developer Account' popup asks a real person's first name, gender and birth date; do not retry, it is the owner step (r1426).
  15. Playgama interstitials are timed by the Bridge, never by the game: call showInterstitial at every natural pause (level/deal end) and let playgama-bridge-config.json minimumDelayBetweenInterstitial decide. get_game_checklist 'Game self-check' names 'the game times them itself' as a moderation reject; Glowmoth...
  16. Agent-Ready engine: a bot wall can be an empty HTTP 202 with header x-amzn-waf-action: challenge (Ballotpedia/CloudFront WAF); status 200-class with no body is not 'no bot check'. botWall() now flags it (r1387).
  17. Editing a stockcount route file while the service runs (build output swapped or restarted mid-edit) can log 'did not provide a loader' for that route for a minute: check the error timestamps against restarts before hunting a code bug (#1751, r1395).
  18. Python: open(p,'w') runs before the right-hand side of write(...) is evaluated, so an error in the expression truncates the file; r1362 blanked a live route (site 400 for ~4 min).
  19. Name checks for a new game cover the character name too, not only the title: r1356's first robot was 'Rivet', a Ratchet & Clank character, found only by the WebSearch name check after the build (renamed to Bolto before any upload).
  20. A round that builds or uploads a newer portal archive for a game drops every queued task that uploads or publishes an older build of that game, in the same round (tuper task list | grep the game name). r1346 found #1276 (r1037 Lanternwick zip) and #1289 (six r1039 zips) still queued after newer archives...
  21. Rule 250's 'git checkout every file you did not mean to change' also wipes OTHER rounds' uncommitted edits in that file: r1336 checked out sites/tuper.app/llms.txt after a maps build and reverted another round's '89 rules' line (restored by hand).
  22. Private-index commits (rule 244): run git read-tree HEAD and git commit in the SAME command with nothing slow between; r1322 read the tree, spent a minute building blobs, another round committed meanwhile, and the commit deleted that round's 4 files (restored in a follow-up).
  23. Never run a bare 'git reset' (no pathspec) or 'git add -N .' in the shared tree: a bare reset unstages every other round's staged files, and a new file staged by another round becomes untracked again so its later 'git commit -- <file>' fails. r1277 ran 'git add -N . ; git reset -q' by reflex; nothing was staged at...
  24. Before writing a notes/ file whose name a task gives, check it does not exist (ls, git log -- <file>): Write overwrites it silently. r1279 overwrote r1210's notes/reach-audit-2026-11-02b.md (written 70 min earlier for the same question) and restored it from git show HEAD. If it exists, append a dated section; if a...
  25. A change to a game's rules or numbers in bets/web-games/<game>/src/game.js is ported to bets/web-games/agent/engines/<slug>.mjs (and its rules text) in the same round, then tuper-games-api restarted and the game's parity test rerun (agent/test/*-parity.cjs on the plain dist zip). r1218 cut Lanternwick's wave gap...
  26. Rule 188 recurred on mcp.tuper.app (r1253 #1569): any BaseHTTPRequestHandler do_POST must read Content-Length bytes before the first 404/413 return. grep every sites/mcp*/server.py do_POST for early returns before rfile.read.
  27. A page that says 'N permissions' must match the live OAuth URL: curl the install redirect (bot UA) and compare the scope list after any env flag (DUTYROLL_USERGROUPS) or manifest change; r1242 found 6 scopes asked vs 4 promised.
  28. Playgama 'ORG_LIMIT' in get_launch_steps/get_sandbox_traffic means the lifetime cap of 3 share bonuses per org (already used); it never frees and does not block a running starter boost.
  29. Bet-only tool notes live in a RULES.md in the bet folder; a round on that bet reads it before building, testing or listing: bets/slack-app (58, 76, 114, 124, 132, 137), bets/chrome-ext (100, 110, 113, 117, 118), bets/sheets-addon (54, 60, 192), bets/sheets-sort (54, 59, 60, 120), bets/etsy-templates (170: run...
  30. Site Check / Agent-Ready engine work: read bets/site-check/RULES.md first (former rules 205, 212, 216, 225, 241).
  31. Web-games rounds read bets/web-games/RULES.md before touching a game, build, test or portal (former rules 172, 191, 193-197, 199, 200, 202, 203, 206, 207, 209, 214, 215, 219, 222, 226, 227, 229-231, 239, 242: Playgama cabinet clicks, quotas and MCP publish quirks, Bridge audio and storage writes, CrazyGames builds...
  32. Services already judged blocked or closed for our agents are listed with dates in notes/signup-blocks.md (former rules 4, 17, 55, 72, 110, 122, 128, 136, 138, 159, 173, 174, 187, 189): resend, Slack sign-up, Stack Exchange, Microsoft/Bing Webmaster, Firefox/AMO sign-up, Modrinth (bans AI projects), Apify Console...
  33. Launch directories and listing sites: before any submission read notes/directory-rules.md (former rules 30, 49, 53, 57, 67, 83, 91, 95, 97, 105, 107, 108, 111, 112, 133, 153, 208, 228: per-site blocks, product caps, edit routes).
  34. Google store names and screenshots (merges 54, 60): a Google product name appears only as 'for <Product>™' (e.g. 'KeepSorted: Auto Sort Rows for Google Sheets™') with 'X is a trademark of Google LLC' in the description; Marketplace names <=50 chars, equal to the OAuth consent screen name, no keyword >5 times; keep...
  35. Shopify (merges 23, 31, 48, 104): accounts.shopify.com and admin.shopify.com answer our browser with Cloudflare 403, so Partner, app, dev-store and admin UI steps go to the owner; we work with the app's API key/secret files, the Admin API token, the store's public endpoints (/.well-known/ucp, /api/ucp/mcp) and...
  36. Discord (merges 14, 28, 46): we never log in to discord.com or drive the [account] user account (register shows hCaptcha; self-bots are banned).
  37. Missing tools on this box (merges 59, 158, 176): no unzip (use python3 -I zipfile or jar tf from [private file]; an unzip loop prints nothing and looks like 'not found'), no Pillow or pip (PNG sizes via struct, bets/sheets-sort/listing/check.py), no pdftotext (python3 -I tools/pdf-text.py), no ffmpeg...
  38. Outbound email (merges 61, 94, 121, 154): cold or outreach email has no route (owner denied Forward Email outbound; Brevo, Forward Email, MailerSend, Elastic Email and Mailtrap terms ban mail to contacts found on the web; port 25 is blocked; Israel's anti-spam law s.30A).
  39. Contact-form outreach has almost no route (merges 95, 97, 114-117): of ~90 contact pages checked (r266-r421) only 3 had a plain form with no captcha (ModernSchoolBus, Excel Insider, iTechGuides); vendor-dominated niches (on-call rotation, Shopify stocktake, Minecraft/Hytale whitelist, Google indexing) have no...
  40. Blocked tasks never reopen themselves (merges 43, 134, 144).
  41. Dates are only for outside events (merges 44, 146, 234; the owner was angry about this twice).
  42. Our own traffic must not count as visitors (merges 65, 76, 85, 183, 240).
  43. Generated pages (merges 58, 98, 120, 197): never hand-edit built output; change the generator.
  44. CrazyGames allows ONE game waiting for review per account (QA shows submissionBlocked, 'You already have a game waiting for review'); drafts and QA previews still work.
  45. Free tool pages are click-tested (merges 74, 77, 119, 141): node tools/click-test.mjs tools/click-test/<page>.json types, clicks and checks the output in headless Chromium and fails on any console.error or pageerror (it adds ?nopv=1).
  46. Wayback Machine for pages that block us (merges 50, 93): Medium returns Cloudflare 403 to curl, WebFetch and our browser; Reddit blocks our server.
  47. Shared browser (merges 6, 175): parallel rounds share its tabs; indexes and the current tab shift under you.
  48. Shared git tree (merges 19, 102, 161, 181, 201).
  49. f-strings that hold page JS: a regex quantifier {1,40} inside an f-string is evaluated as a Python tuple and ships as (1, 40), so the regex silently never matches (r1178 league page ignored ?src= until the beacon rows showed src 'league' instead of the test marker).
  50. A landing page added to a shared server must copy the funnel beacons of the page it was cloned from: /agent-ready/ shipped without them (r1169), so the first launch's leak could not be read.
  51. All marketing and outreach copy is clickbait: posts, launch pages (Product Hunt, stores), comments, emails, titles and thumbnails lead with the most curiosity-grabbing true fact (an AI runs this, it made $0, the worst number), short punchy lines, a question or bet that invites replies.
  52. Apify PPE via API: PUT /v2/acts/<name> {pricingInfos:[{pricingModel:PAY_PER_EVENT,pricingPerEvent:{actorChargeEvents:{apify-actor-start:{eventTitle,eventDescription,eventPriceUsd},apify-default-dataset-item:{...}}}}]} works with the user token, applies at once with no paying users, and apify push does not overwrite...
  53. To find what an agent run left running, do not scan by session id or process group: in Claude Code each Bash tool call is its own session, and a nohup'd job from an earlier call is reparented to pid 1.
  54. Playtests are done by a separate test agent, not the owner (owner decision 2 Nov).
  55. New games are attention games (owner, 2 Nov: 'click bait games ... that's how we make money').
  56. Every game the operation makes ships with an agent-native way to play it: a documented interface an AI agent can use to read the game state and make moves (for example an HTTP/JSON API and an MCP server, linked from llms.txt and the game page), tested by an agent playing a full level through it.
  57. Python sqlite3 'with conn:' (and 'with db() as c:' where db() returns sqlite3.connect) only commits or rolls back; it never closes the connection.
  58. A generator that reads a number out of git commit subjects breaks silently when the subject format changes: tuper.app/open showed 'rounds since 31 Oct: 907' while rounds were past 1040, because build.py matched only 'round N' and round commits are now 'rN #task' (fixed r1044).
  59. Needs that the admin finishes in the owner's Chrome (sittings) run only while the owner is at his computer.
  60. Before queuing a new-bet research task, list every candidate's earlier verdict (grep research/bet*-candidates*.md, next-bet-*.md): #1160 named 13 marketplaces and 7 (WordPress, Atlassian, Wix, monday, Zapier/Make, Framer, Ko-fi) were already rejected in bet12/template-directories.
  61. Polar's Acceptable Use Policy (docs.polar.sh/merchant-of-record/acceptable-use, effective 1 Oct 2026) forbids selling 'human services' and products marketed by outbound telemarketing or automated outreach; acceptable services are those fulfilled at once by software (licence keys, downloads, our API granting access).
  62. Python BaseHTTPRequestHandler servers behind Caddy: a POST handler must read Content-Length bytes BEFORE routing or returning 404/413.
  63. Never write a Google Sheets function's behaviour (case sensitivity, blanks, HAVING in QUERY) from memory into a formula tool: r837's first draft assumed UNIQUE ignores case and QUERY supports HAVING; both were wrong and only the real-Sheet run (Sheets API, need-#10 token) showed it.
  64. When replacing a queued task (drop + re-add), run 'tuper task add' first and check it printed 'task #N added' before 'tuper task drop' of the old one: in a chained command r829's add failed (start >1 day needs --waits-on) and the following drop still removed #807, leaving no task for a drafted post until it was...
  65. notes/social-log.md: new post rows go INSIDE the table, above '## Notes per post'. tools/social-stats.py reads only that table, so r807 put row 8 below the notes and it got no stats until r808 moved it.
  66. Nothing you start outlives your round: when the round ends the program stops its whole process group and deletes its temp folder, so a background job, sleep or monitor that waits to post or check later never fires.
  67. Gumroad MCP (gumroad.com/muse/v1/mcp) works for agents: DCR + PKCE + resource param, the logged-in browser clicks Authorize, tokens in [private file]; files/covers need public https URLs (stage under an unguessable folder, delete after); hard cap 10 new products per day incl. bundles, so batch drafts...
  68. Rule 75 applies to task text too: before sweeping directories, grep the bet's marketing.md for the named hosts. #880 listed hosts all already judged in #O13 (r728).
  69. Page generators must compute every count they print from the data: bets/stock-maps/shop/build.py had typed '15 countries', '32 US states' and 'all 50 maps' from r645, and three later batches (r666, r675) shipped 103 maps while /maps/ and llms.txt still said 15/32/50; claims-check does not check map counts, so...
  70. Google Cloud projects and API enabling need no owner step: the need-#10 token has cloud-platform scope, so POST cloudresourcemanager v3 /projects {projectId,displayName} and serviceusage v1 /projects/<number>/services:batchEnable work by API (r621 created replacekit-addon and keepsorted-addon and enabled the...
  71. Before 'tuper need edit <id> "$(cat file)"', make the script that writes the file stop on error (set -e, then test -s file): r625's text-building step failed an assert, the edit still ran with empty text and blanked need #12 in the owner's status for about a minute.
  72. Social posts exist only to capture attention and turn it into users.
  73. Every new account or listing gets a complete profile in the same round (avatar, banner, bio with AI disclosure, links with ?src, pinned post or gallery) per notes/profile-standards.md; never leave platform defaults.
  74. Paid listings must clear a users bar, not just a price bar (owner, 1 Nov).
  75. LibreOffice PNG/PDF ignores fitToWidth for a portrait sheet whose wrapped column (110 chars) is wider than the page; set landscape on How to use / Start here sheets as well as fitToPage, then Read the PNG (r567 #649).
  76. /tmp is a 7.7 GB tmpfs (it uses RAM) with a per-user quota shared by every parallel round, and Claude Code's own temp dir is on it.
  77. Newsletter (r474): mail only via tools/newsletter.py (double opt-in).
  78. When the existing bets wait on the owner, plan work that needs no owner step, in this order: (1) start the next new bet (pipeline rule above); (2) the next agent-run rows of each marketing.md (search and guide pages, free-tool pages, directory sweeps, Q&A answers where allowed, list building, posts on accounts we...
  79. Bet pipeline (owner, 1 Nov evening; replaces rules 32 and 123): start new bets now, in shapes other than small marketplace apps (brief, Strategy 5: marketplace tools that bring buyers and bill for us, done-for-you services by email, Polar downloads, an audience, anything legal and honest, long shots welcome).
  80. Owner live-test checklists that create things must respect our own plan caps across the whole sitting: build-9.md asked for a 4th Formwell form after build-4 step 16 had used the free plan's 3rd slot (limits.js FREE.forms=3), so the owner would have hit the form-limit reply mid-test (found r358 audit).
  81. claims-check maps each listings.md file to one product's prices: a line about another product's price in such a file must not use the 'Pro $N' pattern (use 'ReplaceKit Pro 6 USD per month'), or it flags a false MISMATCH (r340).
  82. Before a round adds or removes an item in a shared data file (templates.json, a TOOLS list), grep the tests for hard-coded counts of it and run those tests too: r317 added a 10th Formwell template, its result said 'builder test pass', but bets/discord-bot/pages/builder.test.mjs asserted exactly 9 sets and failed...
  83. indiehackers.com: curl with a named UA (tuper-ops/1.0 (Claude Code)) gets 200 but our browser gets Cloudflare 403, so sign-up/product pages are unreachable (r275).
  84. A payment test with a 100% discount proves the webhook and licence path, not that money can be taken: Polar's org had capabilities.checkout_payments=false (no payout account) for 2 days while 5 products 'passed' e2e (found r250).
  85. Before a bet counts as installable or gets a directory listing, check the store's own 'other people can install this' switch, not just our install link: Slack apps install only into their own workspace until api.slack.com > Manage Distribution > Activate Public Distribution (r240 found it unrecorded after 6...
  86. Launch greedily.
  87. Every price a page, terms page, JSON-LD offer or listing draft states must exist as a live Polar product (or Shopify plan in apps/stockcount/app/lib/plans.ts): r231 found Indexkeeper's '$90/year' on 3 pages + the CWS listing draft with only a monthly Polar product.
  88. When a test file of your bet fails on a line another round added (r209's cross-site footer put a literal middle dot into the ReplaceKit bulk page, so tool-test/bulk.test.mjs failed from r209 until r214), the round that changes a generated/shared footer runs every test that reads the pages it touched, not only the...
  89. Before raising an OAuth/token need, list every API call each waiting task will make and check the scope and the enabled API for each: need #10 (r61) asked for documents/drive/script scopes but not spreadsheets, so the KeepSorted test (#70) could never have run SpreadsheetApp.openById, and Sheets API was not in the...
  90. In React 18 server rendering, a <style>{css}</style> or <script>{js}</script> text child gets '>' and '&' HTML-escaped (main > * becomes main &gt; *), the client text differs, and every load throws hydration errors #418/#425/#423 and re-renders on the client (Countwell template page, r185-r191).
  91. Opening a WAL-mode SQLite file with sqlite3 (even file:...?mode=ro) creates -wal/-shm files beside it when none exist; r192's first backup run left them next to 4 idle pre-build snapshots.
  92. Before queuing list growth or a sourcing task, read the bet's marketing.md for an earlier sourcing verdict. r170 queued #209 (Dutyroll outreach list 22 -> 30) although r152 had written 'stop list growth here'; r176 spent a round and two sub-agents and confirmed it: 0 new ready rows.
  93. App databases that hold tokens (Slack bot tokens, Shopify offline tokens, Discord data) must be owner-only: r172 found [private file], [private file] and [private file] *.db/.sqlite at mode 644 (world-readable), which fails Slack's 'store tokens securely' rule.
  94. Our browser can never show a real Google OAuth consent screen (sign-in rejected, rule 33).
  95. Finding paid micro web tools with verified revenue: the Indie Hackers Products DB is server-rendered and curl-able with revenueVerification=stripe&maxRevenue=N&category=<c>&sorting=verified-revenue (18 rows per page, product pages show 'Revenue Verified by Stripe $N / mo' with dated founder posts); TrustMRR shows...
  96. Bet filter 6, testability: before shortlisting a niche, check that the product can run on pages, documents or APIs the operation itself can reach (own sites, public pages, Apps Script/CWS/Search Console via the need-#10 token, Polar/Discord/Slack/Shopify tokens).
  97. When writing JS/HTML through a tool call, escape sequences like \u2028/\u00a0 can arrive in the file as the literal characters (round 106: a literal U+2028 inside a regex literal broke tool.js with 'missing /').
  98. Never run python -m py_compile, pytest or an import of a script inside a served site folder (sites/<host>/): it writes __pycache__/*.pyc, which the static site serves and parallel rounds sweep into commits (round 81: index-check.cpython-314.pyc went live on indexkeeper.tuper.app and into r79's commit).
  99. A task that says 'needs the owner's X' where another queued task is meant to raise the need: check tuper need list first, and if no open need asks for X, raise the bundled need yourself in that round and block every task waiting on it.
  100. Marketing weight: (1) Once a bet's product works end to end, at least half of that bet's rounds go to getting users, not features. (2) Every bet has a weekly target for installs or sign-ups; record the actual number each week with tuper metric and compare it with the target in the bet's plan. (3) Start active...
  101. accounts.google.com rejects our headless browser at sign-in ('Couldn't sign you in.
  102. Community launch posts written by us break most communities' rules: HN bans generated/AI-edited text and automated posting (and landing pages in Show HN); DEV bans AI-generated articles that promote any business incl. your own; Reddit blocks our server (403 'blocked by network security').
  103. Right after 'tuper site add', this host's upstream resolver (Hetzner, via 127.0.0.53) can keep Porkbun's wildcard parking CNAME (pixie.porkbun.com) for up to ~10 min, so curl and the program's site check fail (TLS error 35, status 0 'site down'). 'resolvectl flush-caches' does not help (the cache is upstream).
  104. systemd user units count every restart (including manual 'systemctl restart' and path-unit triggers) toward StartLimitBurst; a burst of restarts leaves the unit 'failed' (start-limit-hit) and the site down.
  105. Before shortlisting a niche that patches a SaaS product's missing feature (dark mode, export, etc.), search whether the vendor has since shipped it natively.
  106. Cloudflare Turnstile and reCAPTCHA login/signup forms fail silently for our headless browser (Polar 'Verification failed', Brevo login 'could not process your request', no mail sent).
  107. Inbound mail no longer uses port 25: MX for tuper.app, tuper.gg and in.tuper.app point to Forward Email, which POSTs to inbound.tuper.app (systemd user service tuper-inbound-relay, 127.0.0.1:8702) and re-injects into 127.0.0.1:25.
  108. When a script splices text into HTML or code with JS String.prototype.replace, pass a function as the replacement (s.replace(x, () => y)): a string replacement expands $& and $' and silently corrupts code that contains them (round 8 sidebar harness broke this way).
  109. Slack Marketplace accepts a submission only after 10 real active workspaces have installed the app (sandboxes excluded) and review takes up to 10 weeks; plan Slack bets with their own launch channel for the first 10 installs, never fake workspaces.
  110. Google Workspace Marketplace search and listing pages render on the server: use research/tools/workspace-marketplace/search.py and listing.py (stdlib, curl-able, includes 1-3 star reviews from ds:6) instead of the browser or profitable.app, whose filtered views need a paid login.
  111. Our sites cannot see the visitor's IP: the ingress forwards every request as 10.42.x.
  112. Run 'export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/$(id -u)' before any systemctl --user or journalctl --user command, and install user units as copied files (not symlinks with a different name) so they enable cleanly.
