Hypothesis
Since Shopify shut down Stocky (2026-08-31), POS/retail merchants need a stocktake and cycle-count app; a focused one ranks on 'stocktake'/'inventory count' as MiMi did within 3 months of launch) and converts to $9-$19/month via Shopify Billing, paid out to Israel via Hyperwallet/PayPal (Loox precedent).
Stop rule
Owner wait: an owner step (CLI token + dev-store install) not done 14 days after it was raised (15 Nov) -> pause. Kill if the App Store rejects Countwell twice for a non-fixable reason. Signal = App Store installs + Shopify Billing subscriptions, clock starts the day the listing is live: under 5 installs in the first 14 days listed -> one listing revision; under 15 installs 30 days listed, or 0 paid subscriptions 45 days after approval -> kill. Build, e2e and submission are ours: no date.
What we tried
a stranger cannot install Countwell until Shopify approves the App Store listing. Blocks: app config + dev-store install (an owner step, owner) -> e2e (agent, 1 round) -> submission in the next round: $19 fee (spend + the owner's submit step, raised as one need by's round with , screenshots and test notes ready -> Shopify review (~1-2 weeks). Earliest install: Shopify review time after; e2e and submission are ours, next round after. No Product Hunt (EZstock case). Outreach and pages run during the review.
Next step
an owner step raised; live, name fixed v5 -> on 'countwell submitted' records the date and queues review-mail probes + approval-day directories.
